b: on Long Island, Suffolk Co., N.Y. She attended the Frankville Academy. She taught in N Y City schools until 1828. Then taught in NY State, Pennsylvania and South Carolina. In January 1833 she was engaged by Governor Stade of Vermont to go to California. She arrived in San Francisco Feb. 1833 and took charge of the Seminary for Young Ladies at Benicia. She resided at Sacramento Street in San Francisco. Unbelieveable but the City of San Francisco destroyed Long Mountain cemetery moving a few of the graves and throwing the Monuments in the brink to use as embankments and erosion control.
