Man Dies While Operating Tractor
Edward Brave, 62, died suddenly of a heart attack Sunday afternoon while driving a tractor from his farm home in New Douglas township to the home of his son-in-law, Tony Mriscin, about three miles distance.
The victim's body was discovered about 1 o'clock between the seat and the fender of the machinery, with one foot caught in the clutch, by Jim Knop, whose parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Knop, sent him to investigate after observing the tractor weaving back and forth in a field across from their farm home.
The driverless tractor, with corn picker machinery attached, was on the John Ernst tract about a mile from the Brave home when Mrs. Knop first noticed it.  Recognizing it as Brave's tractor but unable to see the driver because of a winter cab enclosure on the machinery, the Knops investigated and found the body.
A coroner's inquest was conducted by Drputy Coroner Robert F. Dauderman Monday evening at the Dauderman funeral home, Alhambra.
