The Macon News (Macon, GA) - September 25, 1941

Mrs. Arena Wade, 86, died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Alice Miller, 918 New Street, at 8:30 a.m. Thursday. She had been in failing health for two years, but was critically for two weeks following the breaking of her hip. Mrs. Wade was born in Houston county, Sept. 1, 1855, the daughter of John T. Moore and Mrs. Peggy Powell Moore, and had made her home in Macon since 1913. She was the widow of Moses Thomas Wade, a Confederate veteran. She was a member of the Methodist church. Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. R. O. Cowherd, Mrs. J. C. Weems, Mrs. C. E. West, Mrs. Ida Terry, and Mrs. Alice Miller of Macon; Mrs. Mamie Parketon, Augusta; six sons, W. T. Wade, Fort Valley; J. E. and C. B. Wade, Roberta; George B. Wade, Atlanta; J. H. Wade, Macon; R. L. Wade, Lizella; 54 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Hart's Mortuary.
