James Bonner Robinson, son of William Robinson and Elizabeth Ann Boggs, was born 2 September 1807 in Abbeville County, SC. On 19 July 1837, James Bonner Robinson married Eliza Ann Bonner in SC. James Robinson was a self-made man and left home early to make his fortune. He left SC and moved to Allenton, AL. Then he moved to Williamson Co., TX in 1852. Each year he returned to AL to visit his family, and in 1854 he brought them back to Texas with him and settled on a farm at Birdston, TX. At the close of the Civil War, he gave up farming and was in the mercantile business in Fairfield, Freestone Co., TX for 10 or 12 years. He was appointed Sheriff of Freestone County by Governor Davis to fill the unexpired term of James Rodgers. At the end of that term, he was elected to the office for two years and served until 1875. The Robinsons were members of the ARP Church. James Bonner Robinson and Eliza Ann Bonner were parents of 13 children: Mary Susanna Robinson married Robert Stuart Davidson; Ann Eliza Robinson married Walker Young Davidson; Infant Son; Rebecca Jane Robinson married Irvine Hale Bonner; William Wirt Bonner Robinson married Mary S. Irvine; Margaret Joel Robinson died at age 17; Martha Campbell Robinson died at age 16; James Pressly Robinson married Mary Fannie McCracken; Elizabeth Boggs Robinson married John Laird Bonner; John Lee Robinson married Caroline Mae Grayson and Mrs. Sallie Compton; Samuel Robinson died at age 1; Thomas Harvey Robinson married Mary Caroline Bonner and Ettie Foster Robinson; Sarah Hope "Sallie" Robinson married Oliver Young Bonner. He and Eliza divided their land among their children before his death. On 16 April 1888, James Bonner Robinson finished his noon meal in his home, got up from the table, and dropped dead before leaving the room.

Died at his home in Freestone County, Texas, April 16th, 1888, Mr. James Robinson, about 82 years old....was born in Abbeville County, S. C. In early life he united with the church of his fathers. In 1831, in the full vigor of manhood, he came to Alabama. In 1837, he and sister Eliza Ann Bonner [Rev. T. J. Bonner wrote the sketch] were married; in 1853 he moved to Texas. When Richland church was organized, he was one of the first to enroll his name....leaves a wife, four sons and four daughters.
