Colonel, Infantry, US Army, he served in the Korean War and in the Vietnam War. Born the son of Brigadier General Marcellus Lowery Stockton at Fort Brown (current site of Brownsville), Texas, he was a graduate of the US Military Academy, West Point, Class of 1949. Entering onto active duty, he served as a Platoon Leader during the Korean War, and later served as Brigade Executive Officer of the 1st Infantry Division and as a Battalion Commander in the 1st Cavalry Division during the Vietnam War. He married Margaret Keil, and they would have a son, Thomas Turner Stockton. He earned an MBA degree from Syracuse University in 1963, and retired from the Army in 1978. Following his retirement, he worked in real estate and property development in the San Diego area. He died of prostate cancer in February 1987.
