(Laona) Mrs. Mathilda Mentz, 77, of Laona, died here Monday afternoon at the home of her son, Robert. She had been in ill health for six months. The daughter of Swen Hanson and Maria Palm, she was born in Vinslov, Sweeden, Feb 5, 1879. She came to the United States in May 1902 and on Oct 5, 1904, she married to Michael Mentz at Laona. Mrs. Mentz was a member of the Laona Presbyterian Church and an honorary member of the Presbyterian Ladies Aid. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Gertrude) Grumann, Laona; six sons, Gilbert of Lake Tomahawk, and Herry, Robert, Harvey, Maurice and Orville, all of Laona; two brothers, Henning and Maurice Hanson, both of Laona; 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Four daughters preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Laona Presbyterian Church with Rev. Frank B. Harris officiating. Burial will be in the Laona Cemetery. Friends may call at the Halverson Funeral Home, Crandon, this evening and at the church after 9 o'clock Thursday morning.
