Mrs. Mattie Elizabeth Allen, the wife of Ollie Allen of Comanche, passed away at their home on the Brownwood highway Monday. Mrs. Allen had been in six different hospitals since 13 November 1949. Services were held in the Indian Creek Methodist Church officiated by rev. J.M. Hayes, the pastor, assisted by Rev. J.E. Buttrill and Rev. J.D. Smoot, Methodist ministers of Comanche. Mrs. Allen was born near Waco. She moved with her parents to Comanche County in 1905. On 24 July 1907, she married Ollie Allen. The couple continued to live in Comanche County with the exception of six years in Lampasas County. Mr. Allen was a rancher. The couple moved to Comanche in 1945. The couple was the parents of three children. Their youngest, a daughter, Carrie, died at birth. The sons surviving are Cecil Allen and Carl Allen; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister - Mrs. Leslie Thomas. Mrs. Allen was converted in early life and united with the Methodist Church. She was a member of the Indian Creek Methodist Church.
