MANY FRIENDS MOURN DEATH OF CITIZEN - Funeral Held Friday Afternoon For Mrs. Julia Grant - Mourned by a host of friends in Edmonton and district, Mrs. Julia Ann Bush Grant, 92, widow of Alan Henry Grant, died on Wednesday of this week at her home, 8703 112 street. She had resided in the city since 1905.
Funeral services were held from Strathcona Baptist church Friday afternoon. Hainstock and Son were in charge of arrangements.
Resident of Strathcona until a few years ago, Mrs. Grant was known and loved throughout the community for her kindly spirit and gracious personality. Social, political and religious phases of community life claimed her interest and she came to know many of the families of Strathcona and to keep a constant interest in their affairs.
Her granddaughter, Beatrice Ann Grant, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Grant, was winner of a scholarship offered by the Edmonton Alumnae of the Toronto Conservatory of Music a few years ago.
Mrs. Grant has in recent years made her home with Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Weaver in Garneau. Here, her gracious interest in things of the present-day and in her fellow companions in the home, made her the centre of their family life.
She died quietly on Wednesday. She was conscious to the end and only a few hours before her death joked with her nurse.
