Alice A. Groh, age 90, of Kiel, died on Wednesday June 8, 2011 at her home, surrounded by her family, following a brief illness.
She was born on June 23, 1920 in New Holstein, daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Schwartz) Richart. Prior to her marriage she worked at St. Nicholas Hospital and the Polar Ware Co. in Sheboygan. On October 11, 1947 she was united in marriage to Frederick J. Groh at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheboygan, he preceded her in death on April 5, 1988. She and her husband farmed in Manitowoc County on Groh Road. She was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel, and a member of the Christian Women's Group. During her life, she enjoyed reading, crocheting, gardening and canning. Alice enjoyed her time at the Senior Center, and playing cards with her card club friends, but most of all she loved the time spent with her family and always looked forward to their annual gambling trip. She will be deeply missed by family and many friends.
Survivors include her seven children, Barbara Burks (Mike Beres) of Racine, Kenneth (Pat) Groh of Elkhart Lake, Sue (Allen) Angst of New Berlin, Mary Jo Groh of Manitowoc, Anna Ziegelbauer (Roger Boehnlein) of Kiel, Eileen (Kurt) Reisen of Ripon, Judy (Scott) Bartkuhn of New Berlin; 17 grandchildren, Michael Groh of Manitowoc, Jonathan Burks of Milwaukee, Jeremy Burks of Pewaukee, Ryan (Amanda) Groh of Sheboygan, Justin (Kristin) Groh of Kiel, Andrea (Chad) Weber of West Allis, Becky (Ralph) Hohndorf of West Allis, Terri Angst (Brian Pray) of West Allis, Kimberly Angst of New Berlin, David (Gina) Ziegelbauer of Milwaukee, Amanda (Darin) Geiser of Kaukauna, Eric Hennricks of Ripon, Jennifer Hennricks (Jake Bell) of Ripon, Shane (Katie) Hennricks of Madison, Konrad, Kyle, and Bennett Bartkuhn of New Berlin; seven great- grandchildren, Dylan & Holden Hennricks, Gage Hennricks, Evelyn Hennricks, Riley Angst, Morgan Geiser, Carter Groh; a brother-in-law, Norbert (Gertrude) Kabat of New Holstein; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph, two brothers George & Frederick Richart, two infant sisters, Marcella and Olivia Richart, and a grandson Nic Hennricks. Funeral services will be at 6:00 PM on Monday June 13, 2011 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church (413 Freemont St.) in Kiel, with the Rev. Loren Nys officiating. Burial will be in St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz on Tuesday. Visitation hours will be at the church from 3:30 to 5:30 PM on Monday.
