63, veteran and national leader in higher education enrollment management. Kenneth (Ken) C. Barone, a family man, veteran, education executive, and a pioneer of the innovative college admissions and financial aid practices, died of complications from a courageous battle with lung cancer March 21. Ken, a Hull resident, enjoyed the process of education and helping students realize the goal of a college degree. He served in multiple capacities for over 30 years at Mount Ida College in Newton, his most recent position being Associate Vice President for Finance and Administration. He is well known in the higher education field for his innovations in admissions and financial aid practices. In 2003, he became President of College Bound Selection Service (CBSS) in Medfield where he was a nationally recognized expert on the college search process advising literally hundreds of colleges and universities across the United States. Ken is survived by his soul mate & wife of 34 years, Candace (Bruce) Barone. Their love of the ocean, and sailing brought them to the local waters of Hull in 1994, where Ken quickly settled into Hull life. He served as Treasurer of the Hull Yacht Club for 4 years, and enjoyed spending time with his friends in the community. Ken's love of his home that he considered paradise, has been passed down to his family ensuring that they will have the opportunity to enjoy the Hull life for generations to come. He is the proud Grampa to Aeryn Lee Masterson and Alex Taddei, and uncle to Hannah & Daniel Peterson, and cousin to Gil and Linda Condit of Florida and Jane & David Rice of Georgia. Ken will be remembered for his incredibly razor sharp wit, and his ability to quickly size up and solve a situation or dilemma. He had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh and he especially loved to tell a good story. Above all, Ken will be remembered as a good man a man who made his time with his wife, his children, family, friends & colleagues feel special. He took the time to listen and care, and for that, he will forever be remembered and missed daily.
