Ralph Melvin Severson

A memorial service for Ralph Melvin Severson will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Beaverton. Private interment will be at Riverview Abbey Funeral Home.

Mr. Severson died of a heart attack Sunday in his Tigard home. He was 75.

He was born June 15, 1915, in Northfield, Minn., but was raised and educated in the Silverton area. He was a graduate of the University of Oregon, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He married Ruth Anderson in 1941 and served in the U.S. Army's finance department during the war years.

The Seversons lived many years in Southwest Portland and moved to Summerfield 14 years ago.

Mr. Severson worked for the Frank D. Cohan Co. for many years before opening School Products Inc. in 1973. He retired in 1982.

Survivors besides his wife include his sons, Gary of Bellevue, Wash., Alan of Alexandria, Va., and Mark of Portland; daughter, Gayle Berg of Lennep, Mont.; brother, Orvin, and sister, Gladys Reinertson, both of Portland; and 11 grandchildren.

The family suggests that remembrances be contributions to a memorial fund at St. Matthew Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Bible Institute in Issaquah, Wash.
