Obituary
Edwin C. Davis, son of the late D. and Mrs. Matilda Davis, died at his mother's home on Cedar Hill Avenue, shortly before 11 o'clock on Thursday. The cause of his death was peritonitis.
Edwin was at one time one of the Journal's brightest and best newsboys. He and Harry Essex were associated together in a large newspaper route, and both were taken ill at nearly the same time with typhoid fever. Harry is able to be around again, but in Edwin's case peritonitis set and resulted fatally.
A few months ago Edwin secured a good position in New York City, and had bright prospects before him when he was taken ill. He was a genial, kind-hearted young man, very popular with all who knew him. He was a member of Grace Church and of St. Andrew's Guild, being Librarian of the latter organization. He also say in the choir of Grace Church, and was an active worker for the cause of temperance.
The bereaved mother and sister have the sympathy of many friends.
