Jody L. Altum, 59, died Sunday (August 14, 2016) in Wichita.

He was born on July 26, 1957, in Smith Center, the son of Donnie Eldon and Leota Earleen Reid Altum. The family moved to the Zimmerdale area in 1965. Jody attended Moundridge High School.

Shortly after high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After being discharged from the military in 1977, Jody traveled around the country, but Kansas was his primary home. Through the years, he had been a truck driver, although most of his life he had been a machinist.

Survivors include son of Alamogordo, New Mexico; daughters of Morongo Valley, California, and of Twentynine Palms, California; brothers all of Newton, of Zimmerdale and of Las Vegas; sister of Sedgwick; and nine grandchildren.

Jody is preceded in death by his parents, brother Lewis Glen Altum and two grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 20, 2016) at the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton. Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.

No visitation will be held as cremation has been effected.
