The following is from a family member June Moosberg Sherman

While out hunting, Roland, Lunsford and Thomas Jr accidentally set the prairie on fire. Roland and Lunsford were burned to death; Thomas survived. According to family tradition, burns that Thomas received resulted in his arm and hand to become deformed
