Rebecca was my grandmother although we never met as she passed away long before I was born. She died at the age of 40 in 1930. As the story goes, she left her 3 children and husband in 1928 following the death of her beloved little girl Ruthie who was the only fatality of a train crash that occured in January of 1926. Her daughter did not want to go, on that fateful day, however Rebecca's husband Morris aka Moisha, forced her to accompany them. Ruthie was trampled to death after the train flew off it's tracks. Rebecca was pregnant with my mother Belle at that time. Rebecca left her husband in 1928 and returned back to him in 1930, dead. Again...the story is that she passed away while in the psyche ward of Bellvue Hospital in N.Y. All that I do know is that she was buried in Mount Richmond cematary near many a triangle shirt waist factory fire victim.
