Cecil, Hoopie (Robert Gene), 71, of Cameron, WV, died Thursday, June 10, 2010.

Born in BeBe, WV (Wetzel County), he worked at Fostoria Glass for a number of years before retiring from Consol Energy’s Ireland Mine.
He was preceded in death by a son, Erick Shawn Cecil; his mother, Doretta Potts Cecil; his father, John A. Cecil; and two sisters, Norma Andrews and Dora Yoho.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years and his three daughters. He has six grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters; several nieces, nephews and friends.

Hoopie was a loving husband and father as well as a proud grandfather. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving nature and hunting. He always helped others, telling jokes and pulling pranks to make them laugh. He always enjoyed life to the fullest.

At his request, there will be no visitation or services at this time. He will be cremated, and true to his form, there will be a memorial party to be announced at a later date.
