MAPLEWOOD — Sara Jane Grothause Crump, age 57 of Maplewood, Ohio, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton, Ohio.

She was born on June 9, 1959 in Lima, Ohio, to Jacob C. Hawk and Eileen Wallen Hawk Foust, who survives in Kalida. She was preceded in death by her father and her stepfather, Harold E. Foust Sr.. On May 27, 2000, she married Raymond C. Crump, who survives in Maplewood.

Sara was a 1978 graduate of Bath High School. She was the president of the Shelby County Genealogical Society and the book sales committee chair person for the Allen County Genealogical Society. She was also a member of the Ohio Genealogical Society and the American Legion Post 217 Auxiliary, Sidney, Ohio.

Sara was a volunteer contributor and memorial sponsor for the Find A Grave website. She devoted many hours of work creating memorials and posting pictures. During the eight years, she was a volunteer, she added 3,312 memorials and 3,144 photos, managed 3,184 memorials, and took 237 volunteer photos. She loved working on her family history and helping others with theirs.

She also enjoyed working with ceramics and had owned a ceramics shop, Kathe's Ceramics (named after the previous owner) in Ottoville, Ohio. She was a very talented ceramics artist and her talent painting ceramic pieces was exceptional.

She collected angel figurines, enjoyed listening to county music, fishing, playing bingo and going to casinos, garage sales and auctions.

Sara was very outgoing and made friends easily. She was loyal and devoted to her many friends, calling them regularly and making sure she visited them regularly. In tough times, she was the one her friends could depend on being there for them.

Survivors include her sister, Missy (John) Hageman; niece and nephew, Nayleen Hageman and Jacob Hageman, Ottawa; her daughter, Elizabeth (Shawn) Gillum, Portland, Indiana; son, Donald Adkins, Hamilton, Ohio; four grandchildren, Abigail, Ethan, Olivia; and her son, Joe (Amy) Way, Lake Forrest, California, and their children, Katusha Way, Morgan Miller, and Tyler Miller, Joe's former wife and Katusha's mother, Polina Kushnarenko Way; and three brothers, John (Carla) Foust of Lima, their son, Allen and grandson, Austin, their daughter, Missy D. and granddaughter, Michayla, Todd Foust, Cridersville, and his children, Megan, Chloe, Blaze, and Zack Foust, Travis Foust, Wapakoneta, her uncle, the Rev. Edward Wallen, and several cousins, including special cousin, Mark (Brenda) Wallen.

She is also survived by bothers-in-law Dennis (Paula Patrilla) Crump and their children, David Paul, Christopher Ryan, Danielle Ann Smith and children, Jack Hutson, Kaitlyn Marie; Phillip Crump; David Crump and his son, Jeremiah Crump and his children, Isaiah Jacob and Fabeola Magana Crump; sisters-inlaw, Aillen Crump Hernandez (Enrique Hernandez Laos) and their children, Enrique, Meriche, Katina; Hilda Crump Mendoza (Jaime Mendoza Sauza) their children, Marcella Mendoza, Hilda Mendoza (Oldair Castillo) and their children, Emilio Andres Aguilar, Santiago de Jesus Aguilar, Jaime (Sandra Betsabe) Mendoza and their children, Maria Fernanda, and Ray's former wife, Debbie Copley Way, PHD, traveling abroad.

In addition to her father and stepfather, Sara was also preceded in death by her former husband, Wayne Grothause and two brothers, Kevin Foust and Jeff Foust.

Funeral services will begin 7 p.m., Saturday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Her uncle, Rev. Ed Wallen and her son, Joe Way, will officiate the service.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 26, 2016, and from noon to 7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 27, at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.

Burial will be on a later date at Liberty Chapel Cemetery, Lima, Ohio.
