Ray Stone of Plano, Texas passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the age of 90.

Ray Stone, well-known for his highly-popular and highly-respected radio network on the Dallas Cowboys Football Team, passed away on Saturday, August 20th from natural causes at 90 years young.

Ray not only worked closely with the Dallas Cowboys, but also many Chamber of Commerce organizations throughout Texas and surrounding states. Ray’s speaking engagements in 100’s of towns across Texas and surrounding states, emphasized the importance of local economic development, while providing entertaining stories about the Cowboys players and coaches. Ray’s radio network was considered one of the largest in America to cover an NFL team.

Ray’s experiences in TV programming, humorous story-telling and knowledge in sports, entertained audiences for decades since the early 1950’s. These programs included The Ranch House Party”, The Cowboys Football Report”, “Inside the NFL” nationally, Texas Sports Page, and many College Conference Football Reports.

Ray was proud to be recognized as an important leader within the Dallas Cowboys media community, and had cherished friendships with the Cowboys Team Owners, Players, Coaches and associated media personnel.

As an honored veteran, Ray was awarded the Purple Heart for meritorious combat duty with the US Army in the Pacific Theater, Battle of Okinawa, in 1945 of WWII. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, Ray produced and performed several television shows that showcased his remarkable voice talent and entertainment abilities. He recorded many songs and performed on television and stage throughout Texas during this period.

A proud, 4th generation Texan, Ray never missed the opportunity to express his admiration and love for the great State of Texas. While his speaking engagements and radio network reached beyond the state borders, Ray loved returning to the Lone Star State to live the life he loved.

An avid baseball fan, Ray especially admired the Splinded Splinter, Ted Williams. Possibly because Ray and Ted looked similar, both bat left-handed, and both had similar views toward the sport of baseball. Ray’s passion continued as he remained a player in various church leagues, coaching and managing youth teams in the San Antonio area for many years.

In Ray’s own words, “I was blessed with a large, supportive family, and to have experienced the world …….created by the Great Architect.”.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 am on Thursday, August 25, 2016 in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.

Funeral Service will begin, immediately following the visitation, at 10:30 am in the Brooks Family Chapel.

Interment with military honors will be at 12:30 pm at the DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211 following the funeral service.
