Virginia H. Abbott-Yockey, 77, longtime of Troy

MOSCOW -- Virginia Henry Abbott-Yockey, a longtime Troy area homemaker, died of congestive heart failure Tuesday at Gritman Medical Center at Moscow. She was 77.

She was born May 12, 1920, in Bellingham to Floyd E. and Annis Loreta Elliott Henry. She attended area schools and graduated from high school in 1938.

She married James Vernon Abbott in July 1940. They made their home in Clarkston. He died Jan. 15, 1956.

She married Bill Norman Yockey of Troy, Idaho, Sept. 23, 1956. He died in May 1980.

She was involved with Cub Scouts and taught Sunday school when she lived at Clarkston.

She enjoyed needlework. She was an avid reader and worked on family history. She especially enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by 10 sons: . . . ; two sisters, Arlene Campbell and Shirley Dunn both of Bellingham; 19 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Elliott James Henry.

Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Short's Funeral Chapel in Moscow.

A graveside service will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Bethel Cemetery south of Troy. The Rev. David Halverson of the Troy Church of the Nazarene will officiate.

The family suggests memorials may be made to the Troy Ambulance Fund.
