Obituary: Douglas Thorne Mullen, 74, of Altamonte Springs, FL, passed away on January 26, 2015, surrounded by his family and friends.

Born in Chicago, IL, on June 10, 1940, to Edward Francis and Gretchen Louise Mullen (deceased). Doug was a loving father to son, Gregory Thorne Mullen (Ocala) and daughter, Melissa Louise (Mullen) Everatt (Altamonte Springs). Husband to Karyn Posner-Mullen (Altamonte Springs), Brother to David Mullen (Bradenton) and Kathleen Louise Wingfield (Belleair Bluffs), a grandpa to his grand dogs, Moose and Harper, a wonderful uncle, cousin, a true friend to so many.

Doug lived and experienced so much in life, living around the world for more than 25 years and ultimately retiring back to his favorite state, Florida. Growing up in Omaha, NE, moving to Florida as a youngster, graduating from Winter Park High School, known as "the Rock" at Emory University, serving his country in the U.S. Marines and retiring as a top executive with GTE Corporation; Doug was proud of his many accomplishments throughout his life. He truly loved people from all around the world, his favorite question, "where are you from", which led him into all sorts of great stories of his lifetime. Doug was a man who fought for what he believed in-a very proud and true Patriot.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Doug's honor on February 22, 2015 1-3pm. @ Francesco's 400 So. Orlando Ave., Maitland, FL 32751

Doug's mother, Gretchen, is buried in Omaha, NE, at Westlawn Cemetery.
