Funeral service for Onzelle Buttram, 44, 103 Monterey Circle, Clubview, was held today at Collier-Butler Funeral Home with Dr. Denson Franklin, Dr. J.E. Morris and the Rev. E.L. McFee of Roanoke officiating. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Mrs. Buttram died yesterday at a local hospital after an illness of a year. A native of Birmingham, she resided in Gadsden most of her life. She took a great interest in the cultural and civic advancement of the community. She was a director of the Etowah Council, Girls Scouts of America, active in the Little Theatre and the Parents and Teachers Association. She was a member of First Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, J.W. Buttram, Sr.; a daughter, Zella Buttram; two sons, John Wilson Buttram, Jr. and Walden Buttram all of Gadsden; her mother, Mrs. W. Hopper and a brother, Wilbur Lee Hopper both of Altoona. Active pallbearers will be Chester Stringer, Hubert Stringer, S.A. Beard, Bill Bugg, Dr. John Sheppard, Dr. Herman Frank, Dr. L.R. Lonnergan, Dr. Joe Ford, Edward McFarland, J.L. Hoffman, Charles Hoffman, Tom Callan and Judge Wiley Hickman.
