Калерия Ивановна ФедичеваBallerina born in Russia. Studied with Lydia Tiuntina at the Vaganova School where she graduated in 1955. She created roles in Belsky's Leningrad Symphony (1961), Sergeyev's The Distant Planet (1963), Hamlet (1970) and Vinogradov's Prince of Pagodas (1972) and is remembered best for her modern work although she danced many of the classical roles including Odette/Odile, Nikiya, Gamzatti, Raymonda, Myrtha and Kitri. In 1975 she left Russia and joined her American dancer husband: Martin Freedman. She was awarded the 'People's Artisit of the USSR' in 1967.
