"Edgar resident Frederick Hockman, 91, died Monday, March 4, 2002, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.

Services are at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Christian Church in Edgar with the Revs. David King and Harold Fox officiating. Burial will be in Edgar Cemetery. Williams Funeral Home in Edgar is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hockman was born May 9, 1910, to Erven E. and Maude (Fuhrer) Hockman at Dorchester, Nebraska. He moved with his family to Davenport for one year and then to a farm three miles north of Edgar in 1920. He attended rural schools and graduated from Edgar High School in 1928.

On Aug. 15, 1935, he married Abbie S. Wilkins. He farmed and trucked for many years in the Edgar area. His wife died in May 1962. He married Laura E. Jones Williams on Nov. 20, 1970, at the Christian Church in Edgar.

He was a member of the Edgar Christian Church, where he was an elder from 1928 until death and held various other positions. He also was a member of the Edgar Lions Club and served as a district governor.

Survivors are his wife; three stepdaughters; Sharon E. Williams Sutton, Carol J. Williams Liggett Goudey and Vicky L. Williams Winfield; one brother, Warren of Oklahoma City; seven stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren."
