Stella Jones McCarson, 81, of Hendersonville, died Saturday, April 29, 2000, in Grace Hospital at Morganton.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, a daughter of the late Avery Jones and Bessie Leslie Jones and the wife for 64 years of Tillman DeSawyer McCarson, who died in 1998.
She was a faithful member of Mountain View Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Christine Sterling and Sue Jane McCarson; and three brothers, Albert Jones, Henry Jones and Robert Jones.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Velma and Bill Talley of Brevard; two sons and their wives, John E and Marie McCarson of Hudson and Tillman D. McCason Jr. and Joyce McCarson of Albuquerque, N. M.; seven grandchildren, Lauren Talley-Smith and her husband Kenneth, Steven Talley, Elizabeth Austin and her husband Terry, DeLynn Peeler and her husband, Kenny, Paige Carter and her husband, Sonny, Eric McCarson and his wife, Cheryl, and Grant McCarson and his wife, Cheryl; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today at Shepherd's Church Street Chapel. The Rev. Terry Austin will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Thomas Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors.
