Tillman DeSawyer McCarson Sr., 86, of Hendersonville, died Friday, September 11, 1998.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, and a son of the late Joseph Benjamin McCarson Sr. and Ellen Corn McCarson. He was a faithful member and deacon of Mountain View Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Hubert McCarson, Clyde McCarson, Ralph McCarson and H. E. McCarson; and two sisters, Allene Pryor and Gertrude Ford.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Stella Jones McCarson, three children, Velma Talley and her husband, Bill, of Brevard, Tillman D. McCarson Jr., and his wife, Joyce, of Albuquerque, N.M., and John C. McCarson and his wife, Maris, of Hudson; four brothers, Coy McCarson, Carl McCarson and Calvin McCarson of Hendersonville and J. B. McCarson of Georgia; seven grandchildren, Lauren Talley-Smith and her husband Kenneth, Steven Talley, Elizabeth Austin and her husband, Terry, DeLynn Peeler and her husband, Ken, Paige Carter and her husband, Sonny, Eric McCarson and his wife, Cheryl, and Grant McCarson and his wife, Cheryl; 10 great-grandchildren; and a number of neices and nephews.
A funeral will be held at noon Monday at Shepherd's Church Street Chapel. The Revs. Tommy Martin and Luther Capell will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
