Alice Meta Meyer (Fintelmann), 98, passed away August 24th at home in Appleton, Wisconsin. She was born on May 20, 1918 in Moorhead, Minnesota. When she was very young her family moved to Sheboygan, where she lived for most of her life. She married Victor Meyer in 1937. Victor died in 1989. They had seven children: Darleen Meyer-Oddo, Ellie Murray, Thomas, Faith Tennyson, Mark, Steve and Scott. In addition to many friends she left these grand, step, great and great-great grandchildren: Sheryl Fenske (Oddo), Charles (Chip) Oddo, Chris Oddo, Christy Robbins (Oddo), David Murray, Dennis Murray, Daniel Murray, Tory Tennyson, Ty Tennyson, Travis Meyer, Joshua Meyer, John Gabriel Meyer, Zachary Meyer, Alyx Murdock (Meyer), Kylie Meyer, Elizabeth Fenske (Miller), Rachel Fenske, Cole Fenske, Helena Oddo, Curtis Oddo, Tristan Murray, Jacob Murray, DJ Murray, Thomas Murray, Trent Murray, Ty Murray, Jessica Murray, Joe Murray, Cassidy Tennyson, Ryann Tennyson, Taylor Meyer, Jade Meyer, Jenna Meyer, Toby Meyer, Corbin Miller, Leanna Miller, Amelia Miller, Broderick Schmidt, Gunnar Schmidt, Paxton Schmidt.Alice's heart had room to love every new member of the family. Instead of a mother-in-law, she became a mom to Chuck Oddo (Darleen), Joe Murray (Ellie), Patsy Meyer (Tom), Bob Tennyson (Faith) Wendy Meyer (Mark), Kathy Meyer (Steve) and Tryna Meyer (Scott). She was predeceased by Chuck Oddo, Joe Murray, Kim Hunter (Meyer), Jeremy Murray, Jaxton Schmidt and Grayson Schmidt. In 2005 Steve and Kathy asked Alice to live with them and their sons Josh and Gabe. Until recent months Alice was a very active member of their family sharing in household chores and cooking. As Kathy was a busy doctor, Alice handled some of the "Mom" duties of gentle prodding, reminding and generally making sure things got done. Steve chose to be a stay-at-home son to make sure Alice received the care she needed. She recognized, as did the rest of her children, how blessed she was to be at the center of a loving, care-giving and medical family.Although she grew up during the depression and wasn't able to go on to high school, she was a great reader and educated herself. She especially was interested in medicine and health. She was the family's go-to person for medical questions and was often referred to as Dr. Meyer. When she started living with the real Dr. (Kathy) Meyer she soaked up even more information. Steve is in the medical field as well and between them many medical journals came to their home. Alice read the journals and would suggest to them which articles they might find of particular interest. Alice had a great interest in politics and social issues. She read and watched the news daily and enjoyed discussing it. She had an intelligent, curious and well-rounded mind. Recently she binge watched the series 'Human Planet' and 'Cosmos' with her family. The technical age didn't leave her behind for long. After listening to more and more frequent requests for her kids or grandkids to "Google that for me", she became closely attached to her iPad and roamed the internet herself. She also used her iPad to listen to her favorite WPR broadcasts including 'Science Friday'.
