He was born in Patrick County on May 17, 1914 to Elder Benjamin Harrison Martin and Susie Hopkins Martin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Dovie C. Martin; two brothers: Willie Martin and King Martin; and two sisters: Ellen Martin Adams and Dora Martin Adams.
He was of the Primitive Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Hattie Hopkins Martin of the home; a son, Leon Martin of the home; three daughters: Mildred Massey of Bassett, LouDean DeHart of Stuart and Betty Moore of Bassett; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. today at Old Center Primitive Baptist Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church with Elders Kenneth Hopkins and Carl Terry officiating. Burial will be in the family cemetery on Boxwood Lane in Bassett.
