Claire Mary Sweeney, of Popponesset Beach, formerly of South Boston, died August 26, 2016. She was the wife of the late Robert E. Sweeney, Sr. and daughter of the late Roy Valentine Coughlin and Mary Alice (McNeil) Coughlin.
She enjoyed her days spending time with family and attending Mass at St. Anthony Church. For many years she worked for New England Telephone.
She is survived by her children, Arline Sweeney Costa of Mashpee, Robert E. Sweeney Jr and his wife Elaine of Mashpee, and Jane M. Sweeney; grandchildren, R. Emmett, Isabella, and Cameron Sweeney; and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother-in-law of the late George R. Costa, and sister of the late Roy Coughlin, the late William Coughlin, the late Arline Hansford, and the late Mary Coughlin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at St. Anthony Church, 167 E. Falmouth Hwy (Rt. 28), East Falmouth, MA, 02536 followed by burial at St. Anthony Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Anthony Church Food Pantry at the address above.
