Joyce was a member of the graduating class of 1938 from Laona High School. Joyce furthered her education by attending the Wausau School of Business receiving a secretarial degree.
On Nov. 30, 1940, in Laona, she married Arleigh Yaeger. He preceded her in death on Aug. 21, 1983.
Joyce worked as a secretary for many years for Connor Forest Industries until her husband purchased a gas station when she became the bookkeeper for the gas station and Yaeger Oil Co. She was a member St. Leonard Christian Mothers, president of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, and Band Mothers, she also loved the Packers especially "#4."
She is survived by daughters: Beth (Earl) Steinbrecher and Peg (Ron) Bernacki;
sons: Arleigh (Carol) Yaeger and Russ (Jane) Yaeger;
grandchildren, Dick (Linda), Ed (Crystal) and Sue Steinbrecher, Mark (Meraiah) Bernacki, Tracy (Landon) O'Hara, Tamie (Ken) Koziczkowski, Tiffany (Bart) Kneeland, Skipper Yaeger, Shelly (Scott) Tinsman, Thad Yaeger (Renee Albrecht), Katie (Frank) Shepard;
17 great-grandchildren;
sister, Ruby (Arlyn) Aschinger;
many nieces and nephews who loved her as a mother and grandmother.
In addition to her husband Arleigh, she is also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ann Steinbrecher;
sister Fern Amerson;
four brothers: Pat, Mike, Homer and Harvey Belland;
and sister-in-law, Dorothy (Willy) Belongia.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 6, from 4 to 8 p.m. at St. Leonard Catholic Church, Laona, and again on Friday, July 7, from 9 until the time of Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. with Pastor John Cerkas officiating. Interment will be at the Laona Cemetery.
