McNAMARA, Blair David – Evanston, age 70. Passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2014 in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Evanston he was a son of the late Leo David and Catherine "Katie" McNamara. Blair was retired from Stora Forest Industries where he worked as an electrician for 37 years.

Active in the community, Blair was viewed as the go-to individual and the necessary glue that kept the fabric of Riverdale Community Center strong and vibrant. Blair was the violin component of 'The McNamara Band', entertaining people all over the Strait Area for many years. His family's gift of music brought joy and happiness to friends, near and far.

He is survived by his wife, Jean (née Gerrior); sons, Bradley (Arlene) of Beaverbank; Chad (Tania) of Hammonds Plains; Travis (Angela) of Halifax; sisters, Dorothy Jean MacDonald of St. Margaret's Bay; Darlene (Junior) Martell of Port Hawkesbury; Sharon Ann (Edward) Sampson of Evanston; brothers, Terry (Mary) and Wayne (Anne) both of Evanston; Carl (Eileen) of Whiteside; Gary (Debbie) of Halifax ; four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Blair was predeceased by his sister, Patsy Dorey and brother, Ernest (in infancy).

Funeral mass was held on Thursday, October 9, at St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church in Lower River Inhabitants with Father Callistus Abazie officiating.
