Joseph "Joe" John Vale, 89, of Gastonia, was a son to the late John and Madeline Seiscio Catanzaro. He was predeceased by a brother, John S. Valetta.
Joe served his country proudly in the United States Air Force during WWII, was educated in Metallurgy; worked in broadcasting, the steel industry, operated the first Honda Motorcycle dealership in Gastonia, was co-owner of Peppy's Italian Restaurant in Belmont, and later served as a creative assistant with Cairn Studios in Davidson. He was a long-time member of Lowell Lodge # 540 A.F. & A.M., a member of the Charlotte York Rite Bodies, the Scottish Rite Masonic bodies and the Oasis Shrine. In addition, Joe was very involved in the work of the York Rite Bodies on an international level, serving as General Grand Master of the General Grand Council of Cryptic Masons International from 2008-2011. He also was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church, Gastonia.
