Richard Baker Aldersey arrived from London England with his 2nd wife Elizabeth Emma Wilkinson, 3 sons and 4 daughters - Harry Lee, Joseph Hayden, Algernon Lumley, Eliza, Mary Ann, Mary Ainsley and Arabella Harriet aboard the Dorothy on the 6th June 1849.

Mary Ann Aldersey 2nd was a daughter of Richard Baker Aldersey who built his home off Amery Rd at what is now a private property called Aldersey which is behind the Kay Brothers winery in McLaren Vale South Australia. Mary Ann and her sister Eliza inherited the Tsong Gyiaou school from their aunt Mary Ann Aldersey and created a boarding school for girls in 1868. The school is now part of the McLaren Vale Districts War Memorial Hospital.
