Services Set Thursday For George Scott
Services for George Scott, 81, of Clearfield, retired partner in the accounting firm of Scott and Rabe, who died Monday, May 23, in Mercy Hospital, Altoona, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Clearfield Presbyterian Church.
The Rev. Earl M. Brooks will officiate and interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Clearfield, tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m.
Born in Philipsburg June 24, 1906, he was the son of Harry B. and Ida McCausland Scott, who preceded him in death along with a sister, Laura M. Scott.
On Dec. 24, 1938, he married Sarah D. Dickey Scott, who survives along with four children, Sarah Scott Patwell and John M. Scott, both of Philadelphia, Charles D. Scott of West Chester and Catharine Scott Minehart of Butler, Inc.; three grandchildren, Samuel Minehart, Lucas Minehart and George Minehart; and one brother, Dr. James P. Scott of Philipsburg.
Mr. Scott attended Philips Exeter Academy, N.H. and graduated from Dartmouth College in 1929.
He retired in 1978 as a partner in the accounting firm of Scott and Rabe, located in Clearfield.
He was a member of the Clearfield Presbyterian Church where he served as trustee for several terms and was a deacon of the church.
A former member of the Clearfield Rotary Club, he was past president of the Central Chapter of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, former member of the Clearfield School Board and former president of the Clearfield Hospital Board of Directors.
He was also a former member of the Blue Cross board, Hospital Service Association of Pittsburgh and was Clearfield's first representative on the hospital service association board.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the charity of the donor's choice.
