She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis Lapides and sons Thomas (Ann) and John Lapides.
A graduate of Webster High and Monticello College, Gloria's kitchen table was open to everyone. Discussions often focused on shared passions of gardening, cards, knitting, the outdoors or coffee cake. Her curious, free-thinking and strong-willed nature made her a voracious reader, which she turned into a profession as a librarian at the Kirkwood Library. More than anything else, Gloria cherished the family she raised, church where she worshiped, and the community that contained it all.
A memorial observance will take place at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 10301 Big Bend, Kirkwood MO 63122, at 1 PM on Thursday, March 24 with graveside service at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Missouri Botanical Garden is appreciated.
