Logan Anthony Whitehurst, 29, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home. Logan bravely fought a three-year battle with brain cancer. When he died, he was attended to by his entire immediate family.

Logan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joel and Cecelia Whitehurst of Los Banos, and his maternal grandparents, John and Grace Bird of Palo Alto.

He is survived by his father, Anthony Whitehurst and Mary Jean Whitehurst, and his mother, Janet Bird Whitehurst, all of Los Banos.

He is also survived by his five siblings: sister Emily of Petaluma, brothers Eliott of Rohnert Park and Alex of Los Banos, step-sister Julie Gregg of San Diego and step-brother Eric Gregg of Las Vegas, Nevada, and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

A 1995 graduate of Los Banos High School, Logan served as class president. He graduated from Sonoma State University in Cotati, CA four years later with a bachelor's degree in Art.

A self-taught, gifted musician, Logan began his musical career as a drummer. He performed in three bands, including Primrose Path, Little Tin Frog, and finally The Velvet Teen, with whom he toured the entire U.S., Canada and Japan.

At the same time, Logan created the Logan Whitehurst and the Jr. Science Club project. This solo project enabled Logan to showcase his natural ability to play just about any musical instrument he touched. In this endeavor, he wrote, performed, recorded, illustrated and produced at least six albums. His last album is yet to be released. It is entitled Very Tiny Songs, and includes 81 tracks inspired by friends and fans.

An accomplished printer and cartoonist, Logan also independently provided design, graphic art, cartoons and illustration for numerous musical groups, recording companies, publications and various individuals. His short but extensive career is marked by a long list of dear friends, colleagues and fans around the world.

None of the many challenges in Logan's life, even including his life-threatening disease, could ever distract him from his good humor, his friends, and his abiding love for his family. Although Logan has left us, his many gifted creations will always remind us of the joy and love he wanted to share. A foundation is being established to further Logan's creativity and humor through music, art and education.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM, rosary services will be recited at 7 PM on Thursday, December 7m at the Whitehurst Funeral Chapel.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 AM on Friday, December 8h at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Los Banos.

Burial at Los Banos District Cemetery.
