ELMON GRANT LAWTON, of Shelocta, died in the Adrian Hospital, Punxsutawney, Sunday Morning at 8:30 o'clock.
He was born September 29, 1866, a son of Stephen C. and Margaret A. (Jamison) Lawton.
Mr. Lawton spent seven years in Kansas and California before settling in Shelocta. he was engaged in farming and drilling for The Peoples Gas Company. His church affiliations were with the Atwood United Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his widow, Mary E. (Pickle) Lawton, Shelocta, R. D. 1, and the following children: Charles e., Niagara Falls, N.Y.; Viola George, Vandergrift; Mrs. Genevieve Doverspike, Ford City R.D.3; Mrs Edna Orr, Elderton; Mrs. Buena Johnston, Shelocta, R.D.1; Mrs. Berta McCausland, Elderton and Mrs. Ruth Kimmell, Shelocta. Twent-five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Lawton was a brother of W. W. Lawton, Portland, Oregon; Miss Bessie M. Lawton, Jhansi City, India and Mrs. Ilone Pickle, Vandergrift.
A son, Frank B., and a daughter, Mrs. Lucille (Lawton) Rearick, preceded their father in death five years ago.
Friends will be received in the Lawton home until 1:15 o'clock tomorrow when the body will be removed to the Elderton United Presbyterian Church to lie in state until 2:30 o'clock the hour of service.
Rev. W. O. H. Garman and Rev. Arche M. Neale, D. D. will officiate. Internment will follow in the Gastown Cemetery.
