HUNTSVILLE — Funeral services for Sara Jane Moody Bankston, 93, will be Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, at Parkway Funeral Home in Trinity, Alabama. The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. with visitation from 1 p.m. until time of service. O. D. Bowling, Paddy Kendall-ball, and Patrick Sells will be officiating. Burial will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Bankston, who died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, in Huntsville, was born Sunday, Aug. 26, 1923, to Grady Moody and Evie Peppers Moody. She was a member of Jordan Park Church of Christ in Huntsville, Alabama and formerly of Powers Ferry Church of Christ, in Marietta, Georgia. She was born in Moulton, Alabama, raised her family in Decatur, Alabama, and was a missionary in Rhodesia, Africa. After returning, she was a top sales person for Sarah Coventry Jewelry and babysat children in her home. She also was an award winning motor home sales person for her son’s business, Bankston Motor Homes.

She was preceded in death by husband, C. H. Bankston; daughter-in-law, Carol Bankston; five brothers, Edwin Moody, J. B. Moody, Jonas Moody, Dave Almon Moody, and Houston Moody; and three sisters, Ezma Coffey, Margaret Hassitt, and Mable Harrison.

Survivors include son, Harrison (Kim) Bankston; brother, Jimmy Moody; four sisters, Marie Brazel, Helen Waters, Joyce Rojem, and Sandra Whatley; two grandchildren, Karon (Mike) Baerlin and Cheryl (Lane) Alexander; 17 great-grandchildren, Ashley (Blake) Mitchell, Chase Baerlin, Hailey Baerlin, Colin Baerlin, Ethan Baerlin, Wesley Baerlin, Spencer Baerlin, Ian Baerlin, Avarie Baerlin, Ayden Baerlin, Mason Baerlin, Skyler Baerlin, Zoie Baerlin, Elizabeth Alexander, Landon Alexander, Caroline Alexander, and Harrison Alexander; stepgrandchildren, Matthew Dobbs, Jonathan (Emily) Dobbs, and Justin (Lindsey) Dobbs; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Desper Dobbs, June Dobbs, Elijah Dobbs, Linden Dobbs, Amos Dobbs, and Jubilee Dobbs.

Pallbearers will be Mark Moody, Chase Baerlin, Colin Baerlin, Ethan Baerlin, Wesley Baerlin, and Landon Alexander.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Harrison Bankston for Africa Missionary Fund, 109 Lake Pointe Circle, Huntsville, AL 35824.
