Bonnie Marie Dowden Ayres Hicks, a resident of Oil City the last three decades of her life, was in the first graduating class from the T.E. Schumpert School of Nursing in Shreveport, and had a lengthy nursing career. She was employed in numerous hospitals, including the Veterans Hospital in North Little Rock, the Brentwood Hospital in Shreveport, La., and at Camarillo State Hospital in Camarillo, Calif., where she was head psychiatric nurse and worked with women who had been part of the Charles Manson "family" of sociopaths. She also was a hotel owner with her late husband Everett Hicks. She was the mother of noted music producer Thomas V Ayres, who is noted in Findagrave as a Famous Person. She was the youngest of 13 siblings.
