Mrs. Laura Jane Newton Zeigler (1874-1963), 88, died in a local nursing home at 11:10 p.m. Sunday after a long illness. Mrs. Zeigler was a native of Woodcliff, Ga., and has been a resident of Satsuma for 41 years. She was a member of the Satsuma Baptist Church.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. L. J. Futch, Savannah, Ga., Mrs. D. A. Brown, Satsuma, Mrs. Troy (Ola Carrie) Bowen, Savannah, Ga., Mrs. J. C. Dunlin, Palatka, and Mrs. Preston W. Smith, Baltimore, Md.; four sons, Norman Zeigler and Joe Zeigler, Green Cove Springs, Jake Zeigler, Satsuma, and Richard Zeigler, Savannah, Ga.; a sister, Mrs. G. R. Jordan, Minnesota, Minn.; 27 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Masters Memorial Chapel with Rev. R. V. Hogarth, assisted by Mrs. Mabel Ross, officiating. Burial will be in Satsuma Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Baker, Buddy Winch, Alfred Williams, Harvey Mims, L. A. Crews, and Homer Pritchett. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dtd Monday, 18 Mar 1963.)
