Quentin Valentine Weigel was born on November 30, 1941, the son of John H. and Frances (Welk) Weigel in Orrin, ND. He was raised and educated in Orrin.
On February 11, 1960, Quentin enlisted into the United States Army and was stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA. He proudly served his country until his honorable discharge on April 5, 1962.
Quentin was united in marriage to Trudy Carlson on May 11, 1963 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lakota, ND. They made their home in Orrin, where Quentin farmed with his father until 1965. The couple then moved to Minot, where their two sons were born: Blair and Greg and have lived ever since. He was employed at Ahmann’s Service Center for 6 years, Farstad Oil Company for 15 years, Soo Line Railroad for 2 years, and Wilbur Ellis Company for 15 years until his retirement in 2006.
He was a member of St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church of Minot, where he served as an usher and Eucharistic Minister. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, Grand Knight, District Deputy). He was also a past member of the Moose Lodge.
Quentin loved his family, and spending time together with his two sons and his grandchildren was a joy to him. He enjoyed music, dancing, playing his guitar, old western movies, watching football on TV, woodworking, camping & fishing and traveling.
He is survived by:
Beloved wife of 53 years, Trudy Weigel, Minot, ND; sons, Blair Weigel (special friend, Dorinda), Fargo, ND and Greg (Rhonda) Weigel, Moorhead, MN; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Teasha) Weigel, Destinee Weigel, Chantelle Weigel, Vallerie Weigel, Ariel Weigel, Brody Weigel, Jared Weigel and John Weigel; brothers, Marcus Weigel, Stockton, CA and Balzer Weigel, Everett, WA; sisters, Antonia Brossart, Lakota, ND and Rita (Harold) Gefroh, Bismarck, ND; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Quentin was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joseph Weigel; sisters, Angeline Weigel (infant) and Isabel Degenstein; three sisters-in-law; and four brothers-in-law.
