Born in 1887, near Scotts, Michigan. Jennie was raised on a farm and met Floyd J. Skidmore at a dance at the age of fifteen. They were married in 1902 and she gave birth to one child, Stanley L. Skidmore, in Battle Creek, Michigan.

Jennie was active in the Battle Creek community and served as President of the Battle Creek Woman's Social Club, and as member of the Woman's League, Friendship Rebekah Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the First Congregational Church for forty years, and served as President of the Jesse Galloup Circle. She founded the church organ guild.

Jennie enjoyed changing her name from time to time, calling herself, Jeanie, Jane, ... or even Barbara, as it suited herself.

Among her many skills, she was an expert seamstress and donated countless hours sewing for needy hospital patients and charitable organizations. She was gifted musically, and enjoyed accompanying her husband on the organ, while he played tuba. She loved to play bridge.

Jennie and Floyd were happily married for nearly 69 years before she passed away of a stroke at the age of 86.
