Charles "Charlie" Robert Townsend, 76, of Belleville, passed away September, 12, 2016 at Marietta Memorial Hospital in Marietta, OH.
Charles was born April 9, 1940 in Belleville, WV to Clarence Theodore and Golden Beatrice {Swain} Townsend.
He married Pauline Casto on April 20, 1959.
Charles worked for the Laborers Local 1085 and retired after 34 years in 1999.
He was a member of the Belleville Baptist Church, enjoyed farming, gardening, watching TV, loved singing and his girls, "Charlies Angels". Many knew him as the Mayor of Belleville.
Charles will be deeply missed by his wife, caregiver and love of his life, Pauline, of 57 years, daughters, Tammy Kay (Tom) Abbott of Washington, WV, Robin Lynn (Rick) Sanchez of Belleville, WV, grandchildren, Jessica (Ryan) Barnes of Belmont, OH, Ricky (Jessica) Sanchez of Lubeck, WV, Maggie Peters of Parkersburg, WV and fiancé, Joshua Mackey, Tabitha Sanchez of Belleville, WV and fiancé, Daniel Brown, Amber Abbott of Vienna, WV, great grandchildren, Kailyn Pickens, Tyson, Leah, Trenton and Cameron Chichester, Ziva Barnes, sisters, Clara McVey of Belleville, WV, Anna Lou (Roy) Buck of Belleville, WV, sister-in-law, Betty Jo Townsend of Belleville, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gene Townsend, twin sister, Carolyn Townsend and brother-in-law, Virgil McVey.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 15, 2016 from 2 to 8 p.m. and Friday, September 16, from 10 to 11a.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Randy Dornon officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memory Gardens.
