Poet. Born in Lymington, Hampshire, England, she was the daughter of Captain Charles Bowles,who worked for the East India Company. Her poems include "A Widows Tale" (1822) and the work for which she was most famous, "Chapter on Churchyards". She went to live in Keswick, Cumbria after she married the poet, Robert Southey at Boldre church, Hampshire.
