From about 1830's Bryan Country Census, The Phillips Family moved in from Screven County, Georgia. They farmed the land and had families , big families.!

My daddy, David Phillips , told me this story years ago, about his great grandfather William Benjamin "Billy" , and great grandmother Elizabeth Perry Phillips.Grandpa William Billy and Grandma Elizabeth Phillips were married abt. 1863 in Bryan County Georgia. They had 11 children together , that I know of !

All of this while the Civil War was going on ...
Sherman’s March Through Georgia ! . William "Billy" Phillips was living in Bryan County, Georgia with his family when Sherman’s army blazed its way through the state during the Civil War and torched the Court House in Bryan County Georgia. ( Now everyone knows why it's so hard to find records in Bryan County today.)

Times were hard for people during and after the Civil War . Around the 1900's Grandpa William Billy and Grandma Elizabeth and their son Charlie Phillips loaded up the old covered wagon and moved to Naylor Georgia. They went into the cattle business , but it didn't turn out all that great ! All of the cows came down with hoof and mouth disease ( Foot-and-mouth disease in Cattle) . And they just about lost everything they had, and didn't have enough money to move back to Bryan County , Georgia .

So they lived out their days in Naylor Georgia. I believe both William "Billy" and Elizabeth J. Perry Phillips are in the Good Hope Cemetery , in Naylor , Georgia. I went to that old little Cemetery about 18 years ago and the only graves that we could find was that of their son Charlie Phillips and members of his family!
