Born July 16, 1956, to the late Ronald H. Allen and the late Anna C. Johnson Allen Smith of St. Albans. Jerry attended St. Albans public schools, graduating from St. Albans High School in 1974. In 1976, he was united in marriage to Dorlessa "Frap" Miller. To the union of 30 years were born their two sons and one daughter.
Jerry was an employee of the Dow Chemical Plant in South Charleston with 28 years of service. He loved his job and the amazing camaraderie he had with his co-workers. Jerry loved his family. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. There was nothing that he would not do for them or anyone. Jerry's home was always filled with children. On any given day of the week, you could find 10 to 15 children in his home. Jerry was a quiet man of very few words, but his silent heart spoke volumes. Jerry participated in Dunbar Midget Football and Dunbar Biddy Basketball for over 20 years, touching the lives of so many children. Jerry was an avid sports fan and known as the number one West Virginia University fanatic in our home.
He leaves to mourn, his wife, Dorlessa; sons, Jerry Jr. "Nook", and Jermaine "Man", both of Dunbar; daughter, Taquilla "Missy" of Dunbar; foster daughters, Anna Blaney of Charleston, and Wanda Blaney of Charleston; brothers, Ronald W. and Wayne M. of Nitro, and Claude, Christopher Allen and Bruce Smith of St. Albans; sisters, Jennifer (Theodore) King, Cheryl (Reggie) Jackson of St. Albans, Claudia (Joseph) Walton of South Charleston, Tina (Bruce) Ballard of Hinton; eight grandchildren, Jaiquala Smith of Cross Lanes, Jevaughnte' "Little" Allen of Dunbar, Jeray Allen of Charleston, Javah Allen of Dunbar, Jaimelle and Jerrelle Claytor of St. Albans, Zxavian Martin and Mikhaela Martin of Dunbar; brothers-in-law, Jackie and Larry Campbell of Dunbar; sister-in-law, Anita "Nisey" Poindexter of Winston-Salem; special nieces, Celia and Marleanna Poindexter of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and a host of very special aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; and friends.
