Married: 04/12/1842 in Ostego or Oswego Co., New York
Died 1905 in Galesburg Twp- Kingman County, Kansas

A teacher-interested in literature and arts.

In November, 1844 Mina, then 22 years old- and her husband Barnett, began a trip west. Her impressions of the trip from their home in Oswego, NY are expressed in a wonderful little poem. The journey took them through the Great Lakes, by sailing ship; they arrived on the West Shore of lake Michigan in the vicinity of Richmond, Illinois (North of Chicago). They began their life there in a rough little cabin in an "opening" in an oak grove on the prairie. All of their children were born in Illinois. Because of the lack of timber in the area, they would travel to Racine, Wisconsin for wood supply (maybe a business venture).

When her husband went to the California gold fields in 1850, Mina went back to teaching school. And, when Barnett retuned, they built a home near Lake Michigan "Where Ma (Ida Ella) remembered wading and playing as a little girl." In about 1862, Barnett again left, this time to fight in the Civil War. Sometime before 1875 they traveled by covered wagon to Putnam County, Missouri. then in 1879 they migrated to Kingman County, Knasas, where they spent the ramainder of their lives. In 1905 while alone in the house, her clothes caught fire from an oil stove, causing severe burns to her face and body. When her husband retuned, there was little he could do and she died later that day.
