Angelo L. Alfano passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, at Abington Manor Memory Care Village, Easton.
Angelo was born on Sept. 21, 1921, in Pittston, son of the late Salvatore and Marianna (Sciandra) Alfano. Angelo was the beloved husband of Dorothy (Costello) Alfano.
He served his country in World War II in the 337th Infantry Regiment in Italy and received the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy; son, Dr. Salvatore Alfano and wife, Linda Alfano, Camp Hill; daughter, Mariann (Alfano) Liberati, Bethlehem; granddaughter, Angela (Alfano) Nadler and husband, Drew Nadler, Rye, N.Y.; grandson, Dr. Peter Alfano and wife, Dr. Kimberly Alfano, Enola; granddaughter, Elizabeth Liberati, Bethlehem; grandson, Joseph P. Liberati IV, Bethlehem; great-grandchildren, Owen Murray Nadler, Charlotte Grace Nadler and Maximo Angelo Alfano; sisters-in-law, Josephine Alfano, Pittston, and Jennie Alfano, Forty-Fort.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Tina Scalzo; brothers, Joseph, Victor and Peter Alfano; son-in-law, Joseph P. Liberati III.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Angelo's name to the St. Luke's Hospice Development Office, 801 Ostrum St., Bethlehem, PA 18015, or Southern Lehigh School District, attention: Joseph P. Liberati Scholarship Fund, 5775 Main St., Center Valley, PA 18034.
The family will receive guests from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, at The Parish of St. Barbara, 28 Memorial St., Exeter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. in the Parish of St. Barbara. Interment services will be private and held at the family's convenience. Angelo will be laid to rest in Denison Cemetery, Forty-Fort.
