BLACK, GILBERT ERNEST "BIG G" - age 72 of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Morristown TN, passed away Tuesday evening, April 17, 2012. A lifelong builder, his passion for the construction industry began with the U.S. Navy Construction Battalion, the Seabees, where he served in the 1960's. He was involved with Callaway/Black Construction in Morristown for many years as well as numerous projects in East Tennessee as an independent contractor. He loved his family dearly and will be missed by all. Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents, David and Elaine Black. He is survived by long-time love Joyce "J.J." Gardner of Knoxville; sons Andrew Black of Knoxville and Dwaan Black and wife Ellen of Atlanta, GA; brother David Black of Bremen, AL; grandchildren William, Brantly and Robert Black of Atlanta, GA; beloved extended family Glenn, Kim, Lindsey and Brooks Gardner of Morristown and JaneAnn, Steve, Cole, Clay and Cali Marshall of Atlanta, GA. Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Allen Funeral Home, Morristown, TN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials can be made to the American Diabetes Association .
