B. H. Willis Dies; Retired Fire Chief At Fort Benning
Benjamin H. Willis, retired Fort Benning fire chief, died at 5 p.m. Tuesday at his home, 1112 Twentieth street, Phenix City, after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Willis was born in Auburn, Ala., Oct. 18, 1872, the son of the late John J. and Sarah Quillian Willis. When he was a small child, he moved to Columbus and had lived in Phenix City two years.
He was a member of the Methodist church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruth Gibson Willis; two daughters, Mrs. H. E. Davenport and Mrs. Albert Skotsky, both of Columbus; a son, D. H. Willis, McColl, S.C.; five grandsons and four granddaughters, and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be held at the Striffler mortuary chapel at 4 p.m. Friday. The Rev. T. E. Steely, pastor of the West Side Baptist church, will conduct the service. Burial will be in Riverdale cemetery. per: Lois Goodin Hottinger
