Ralph V. Abeel, age 89, passed away Friday, July 18, 2003 at the Overland Park Manor, Overland Park, Kansas.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 Thursday, July 24, 2003 at the Church of St. Ann's, Prairie Village, Kansas. Interment will be in the Resurrection Cemeetery, Lenexa, Kansas. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Ralph was born June 4, 1914, in Fairway, Kansas, He was a lifelong resident of Roeland Park and Prairie Village,Kansas. He retired after 33 years with Santa Fe Railroad as an engineer. He was an avid boater and served a term as Commodore of Heart of America Boat Club. He spent the winters traveling throughout the southwest in his RV with Florence, his wife of 65 years. At home in Prairie Village he maintained a beautifully manicured yard and a bountiful garden. He was a perfectionist in all endeavors.
A son, Dennis, and brothers, Fred and Earl Abeel precede him in death.
Ralph is survived by his wife Florence, a son Jerry and his wife Ann of El Paso, Texas. Three grandchildren: Christine Thomas and husband Lorne, Dallas, Texas, Michael and Joseph Abeel, El Paso, Texas, and six great-grandchildren: Sierra, Celeste, Shaefer, and Caprice Thomas, and Anthony and Mia Abeel.
